Sinixt Elder, language evangelist, and song-maker N̓ʔiy̓sítaʔtkʷ (LaRae Wiley) will share song-making process and will also share a portion of her one-woman song and spoken piece, x̌l̓ in̓t̓at̓úpaʔ.


As an authentic sn̓ʕay̓čkstx pəptw̓ínaʔxʷ (Sinixt Elder Woman), N̓ʔiy̓sítaʔtkʷ will welcome workshop participants to her sn̓ʕay̓čkstxúlaʔxʷ iʔ k̓l̓ Ky̓ʕaʔmlúp (Sinixt territory in Nelson) by teaching them n̓səl̓xčin̓ (Sinixt language), sharing her process when composing sn̓kʷnim̓ (songs) in n̓səl̓xčin̓, and sharing her person healing journey through sʔaʔúm̓s (words), sn̓kʷnim̓, and pumín̓ (drum).


N̓ʔiy̓sítaʔtkʷ (LaRae) Wiley is Sn̓ʕay̓ckstx (Sinixt/Arrow Lakes) and a member of the Colville Confederated Tribes. She is the co-founder of Salish School of Spokane. LaRae earned her BA and BAed from Eastern Washington University in 1990, and is a Washington State certified teacher.
