ELLEN BURT has lived most of her life in the remote communities of Argenta and Johnsons Landing, at the north end of Kootenay Lake. She has published two memoirs: When the Path is Not a Straight Line, (Maa Press 2013) and What Forever Feels Like, (Ellen Burt, 2018), which describes her back-to-the land life in Johnsons Landing. Reviewer Lee Reid said in The Ormsby Review: “Ellen Burt’s language is sensuous, as fragrant and melodic as butter and fresh trout sizzling in the pan.”  Ellen is also a spoken word artist; she has been a frequent winner of the Nelson Poetry Slam and is active in Words on Baker. She is currently working on a childhood memoir. Ellen lives in Nelson, BC.
